Map markers help differentiate between the various incident types. You can filter the incident types in the Filters section if you wish to only receive updates on specific types of incidents.

You may notice colored and greyed map markers - this is purposefully done to help visually indicate to you the different states an incident is in.

Color: A map marker shown in its original color is a new incident that you haven’t yet viewed.

Grey: A grey map marker is an incident that has expired.

What’s an expired incident?

We classify an expired incident as an incident that is no longer worth pursuing. This is dependent on two factors:

  1. Time: Once an incident reaches the 3 hour mark, we consider it expired and it will not show on the map. At this point, it’s safe to assume the incident has been resolved and is no longer worth pursuing.

  2. Updates: If an incident comes from a source that is providing frequent updates (ie. incident cleared) we will monitor those updates for you. When an update reflects that the incident has been cleared, we then consider this to be an expired incident.
